Action Research

a. Action
b. Content- Action movies are generally conveyed by an antagonist or group of antagonists who must overcome a series of obstacles such as fights, violence, chases, and physical feats to become the hero against incredible odds against a villain or obstacles.
c. Production- The use CGI in action movies has become the norm. CGI allows for movies to portray action scenes and visual effects that would otherwise require a stunt crew. CGI has become cheaper and more efficient in the means of producing a movie.
d. Marketing- A way to market an action movie is through the trailer. Usually, when producing a movie, scenes or clips of extreme action are shown in the trailer, without directly spoiling the plot. When the target audience watches a trailer, they should automatically be able to depict the genre of the movie based on the clips shown. If it were a romance movie, clips of a couple in love can be shown to convey the genre. In my case, it is action. For example, in "The 15:17 to Paris" the trailer exemplifies heavy use of action, and shows the target audience what exactly the movie is, the genre, and the purpose of the movie without actually exposing the ending.
e. Analysis #1- "John Wick" - John Wick is a film about a professional assassin, played by Keanu Reeves, who takes out the mob after they kill his dog. Wick is constantly faced with violence, gun fights, explosions, fist fights, and chases. The movie is a long thriller with fights around every corner, and it is Wick's job to kill all of the mob. The kill everyone and make them suffer, Wick must overcome the obstacles necessary to reach his final goal. In John Wick the sub-genres work together in the film to convey that John Wick is in fact an action film.
f. Analysis #2- "Spider Man"- With Spider Man, I will be referring to the franchise as a whole, not a specific movie. Spider is a film of a teen named Peter Parker who is bitten by a spider and begins to grow characteristics of a spider, such as being able to climb walls, or create webs to fly throughout the city. Spider man is a protagonist who uses his skills of flying and fighting to create an action film. Parker is faced with obstacles and dangers that he must overcome if he wants to achieve his goal. Some dangers include villains that he fights as spider man, and some he must face as Peter Parker, such as the death of his uncle. Ultimately, Spider Man is a film of wonders, keeping the audience at the end of their seat with every scene to come. Spider man is an action movie that gives other action movies high standards.

Welcome, Welcome

Hi guys, my name is Mateo Grauer, and I am an 11th grader in Cypress Bay High School. My purpose for this blog is to explore and research the romance genre in movies and to analyze how the characteristics in action movies target a specific audience. Romance movies are a highly rated movie genre to watch, according to statistics, so I chose romance to really understand everything in the production to content to marketing in the movie business. This blog will also be a day-to-day  follow up on the research project my group and I will be making. This blog should explain everything from the brainstorming, decision making, and final thoughts. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again!
